The happy dance

The second party
yesterday she was 5 and today she's 6
a party for two friends, her little sister, & their parents
the gloomy gray clouds couldn't mar that day

Head to toe dressed in red resembling a dolly
a small overly excited child that did not stay fixed
5 or 6 the same age no different
hopping to her best friend & holding her in a grasp, a memorable display

happiness seemed to overflow the home
they couldn't help but twirl & dance with the new Barbie doll
they didn't even care if they were being video taped
But now they laugh at themselves in embarrassment even after 11 years

 if they could put all their memories in a tome
then the miles between them won't worry them at all
